The Montréal Museum of Fine Arts is presenting the Canadian exclusive exhibition of artwork from acclaimed American glass artist Dale Chihuly, from June 8 to October 20, 2013. Chihuly, considered the “Tiffany” of our time, is inspired by nature, playing with colours, reflections and organic shapes. Much of the exhibition of glass sculptures has been specifically designed for the museum’s interior architecture. mmfa.qc.ca

Named the world’s Best Leisure Airline in 2012 by Skytrax, Air Transat is trying to help passengers beat jetlag with new mood lighting aboard its recently launched Airbus A330 flights to Europe. The theory behind the new day-to-night LED mood lighting is that the brightness and colour of light can be invigorating or relaxing. Warm white light during overnight flights helps to stimulate melatonin production and increase passenger relaxation while warm lighting reduces the heart rate and yields improvements in sleep patterns. Blue-rich cold light in the morning increases alertness. Reddening the colour slightly at dawn and dusk, simulating sunrise and sunset, can reduce fatigue during long-haul flights. In addition to mood lighting, other ways to beat jetlag include drinking plenty of water, eating small meals frequently and walking around the aircraft when possible. airtransat.com

In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the Dallas Museum of Art is exhibiting the works of art installed in the president’s suite at the Hotel Texas during his fateful trip in 1963. The original installation, orchestrated by a small group of Fort Worth art collectors, was created especially for the president and first lady in celebration of their overnight visit to the city and included paintings by Vincent van Gogh, Thomas Eakins, Lyonel Feininger, Franz Kline and Marsden Hartley, and sculptures by Pablo Picasso and Henry Moore. Hotel Texas: An Art Exhibition for the President and Mrs. John F. Kennedy is on view until September 15. The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza is located in the former Texas School Book Depository where evidence of a sniper was found following the assassination of President Kennedy. The museum presents the social and political landscape of the early 1960s, chronicles President Kennedy’s assassination and its aftermath, and reflects upon his lasting impact. dma.org; jfk.org; visitdallas.com
