From the northern lights to the midnight sun, the Yukon is known for its spectacular skies. These skies are home to Whitehorse-based Air North, which is 100 per cent owned by Yukon residents including members of the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation. Air North was founded in 1977 to provide charter flights for the mining industry. The award-winning airline now flies to the Yukon from major cities in B.C., Alberta and Ontario. A visionary restoration project has turned a 17th-century castle in Southern Italy into a luxury hotel, museum and world-class cooking school. The Museum at Bethel Woods in Bethel, NY, site of 1969’s Woodstock festival, is dedicated to the sixties, an era of great social and cultural change.
