Whistler Blackcomb is investing $8 million in projects on and off the mountains. Plans include opening up more beginner-friendly terrain on Whistler by regrading runs, and installing two new covered magic carpet lifts at Olympic Station. The Roundhouse Lodge glacier-view deck is getting a new upper and lower deck plus a heated “umbrella” bar with a collapsible roof. The Garibaldi Lift Company patio, meanwhile, will be expanded to accommodate 90 outdoor visitors year-round, warmed by heaters and fire pits. Several hiking trails on both mountains will be resurfaced and widened for summer visitors, and the popular Samsung Alpine Theatre is being expanded and moved to the lower level of Blackcomb’s Rendezvous Lodge.
